Nanna's Voice

I got this idea from my daddy (Nicholas' PaPa) a while back because he called my momma's voicemail to listen to her voice.  I wanted Nicholas to be able to hear his Nanna's voice when he gets older and be able to put a voice with her picture.  This has been uploaded ever since 4/22/12 (4 days after she died) and hasn't been shared until now.  Many of you were friends with my momma (his Nanna) and it would only be fair to let everyone hear her voice whenever you want to.

New Food

Nicholas has tried a couple of different types of baby foods in the past few days.  He's tried apples and peaches and so far he likes the peaches the best.  We still have bananas to try out too.  The video of him eating the apples is on www.ourlittlesaint.info

Nicholas also went to church today.  He did well once again.  He didn't fall asleep this time until there was about 10 minutes left.  The preacher mentioned Nicholas during the announcements and after the service several people came to see him.

Nicholas is watching his back yard friends the Backyardigans.

I thought you said this was going to be hard.

You weren't supposed to see me practicing!!!!

Mommy is at her funniest when she's imitating me.

Resting up for church.

Captain Adorable loaded up and ready to come home.

Checkup

Nicholas saw Dr. Collins today (his pediatrician) for his checkup.  Nicholas now weighs 15lbs2oz and is 27 1/8 in. long.  His head circumfrence is 18 1/2 in. too.  That is a little bigger than usual but most preemies have larger heads and Dr. Collins didn't seem concerned at all.

Now for the best part: Nicholas has been referred to an ear, nose, and throat doctor.  He will be going on 8/14 to see what can be done to correct his minor hearing loss.  The audiologist in Sumter thought tubes would be enough to correct it.

One last little bit if new news: Nicholas was given the green light to eat a little bit of baby food once every day. He is only to be given a small amount and he will remain on his formula until he's at least 1 year old. He tried the apple baby food and in the beginning he seemed to like it ok but after a few minutes he wanted his bottle. We recorded it and we will be posting the video in the next couple of days.

It was a good doctor's visit and now that Nicholas' lungs have progressed and his ROP is gone now all that's left is his hearing.  Hopefully, that will be his last hurdle.

30

Today was my 30th birthday and what I asked for was to take Nicholas to church for the first time.  Luckily everything went according to plan and he was able to go.  The preacher was very nice and took the time to ask Mariah to stand up as Nicholas was sitting in her lap.  Everyone clapped as they all knew about all he's been through.  Nicholas didn't make hardly any sounds except a few here and there when he was trying to talk.  He fell asleep about 5-10 minutes into the sermon while I was holding him.  It was the best birthday present I could've asked for.

After church was over several people came up to see him as very few had actually seen him in person.  They all complimented him on how cute he is and also how well behaved he was during church.

Come on doc!!!  Let me eat some REAL food!!!  You see I'm working on some teeth!!!!

You didn't say cheese.  I wasn't ready.

In the back of the church.

There's got to be something on that thumb that makes it so addictive.

No....mommy....please....I'm gonna wet my diaper!!!!!

Couldn't quite get his hand in his mouth before he dozed off.

I should've known anything with the word "exer" in there wouldn't be something good.

Uh oh!!!  The floor is getting closer and closer!!!!

It's not my Sunday paper but it'll do.

It's got to be getting close to 4 by now.

Come on Yankees!!!!  You had the lead!!!!

4th of July and Another Milestone

On Wednesday, Nicholas went swimming for the first time.  We had to limit his time in the pool because of the Diuril.  We got conflicting information as to whether or not Nicholas could be in the sun so we decided to play it safe and keep it to 2 short intervals of about 10-15 minutes each.  He also had to wear a hat and sunscreen (70).  Nicholas did not fuss 1 time and he instinctively knew to hold on to the handle on the float his Nanny got for him.  As he gets weaned down on the Diuril he'll be able to stay out a little longer.

Now for the milestone: Nicholas has rolled over from his back to his stomach!!!!  He did it twice today (Friday) for his mommy.  She wasn't able to capture it yet but we hope to get it and we will post it on here asap.

A special thank you to Nicholas' great aunt Kim for the pictures of Nicholas in the pool.  We wouldn't have gotten any because we were both in the pool with Nicholas.

Sure looks like a pretty day out there.......stupid sun!!!

You don't understand.  These are swimming trunks.  Not holding trunks.

But granny my fingers are delicious.

Grandaddy Ralph, why are my hands so addictive???  Will it always be like this?????

But the pool is calling my name!!!!

Nice place you got here.  I think I'll take your pool home with me.

Sometimes, when the spotlight is on me so much, it bothers my eyes.  Hence, the sunglasses.

Daddy, I told you I've got it.  Don't you see me holding on!!!

PaPa wanted to make sure everyone knew how much he appreciated yall letting him come.  He really enjoyed it.
